Troye Sivan Essentials

Infusing pop with all the thrilling ecstasy and sensuality of the club, Troye Sivan has come of age in the public eye as an actor, singer, songwriter, and gay icon. Born in South Africa and living in Australia from age two, Sivan scored a global hit with 2015’s pensive, R&B-inflected “YOUTH” when he was still only 20. Three years later, the more upbeat album Bloom took him to a whole new level, thanks to the sex-positive catnip of “My My My!” and the sultry Ariana Grande duet “Dance to This.” The latter set the table for other high-profile collabs, including teamups with Charli xcx, Tate McRae, Lauv, and PNAU. Adding nuanced vocal and lyrical sensitivity to the animated language of dance music, Sivan captured the sheer giddiness of new love (and physical contact) on the chant-along “Rush” and the Bag Raiders-sampling “Got Me Started,” both from 2023. In 2025, he reteamed with Charli xcx for a Eurodance-influenced remix of her BRAT-era anthem “Talk talk,” adding dreamy notes of romance to the song’s brasher come-ons.
