Tequilajazzz Essentials

Since forming in the early '90s, St Petersburg experimentalists Tequilajazzz have toyed with a quirky, alternative sound. The sextet utilise thrumming drumbeats, melancholy piano, acoustic guitars and upbeat synths to slip into progressive rock, blues, folk, alt-rock and jazz-rock, never settling into one sound for too long. Frontman Eugeniy Fedorov's markedly powerful but restrained voice overlays the varied stylings with tasteful nuance reminiscent of Nick Cave, and with just as much poetic prowess.
