Tears for Fears Essentials

Synth pop superheroes Tears for Fears are as quintessentially '80s as leg warmers and big hair. Formed by teenage friends Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, the U.K. duo debuted their thoughtful fusion of drum machines, soaring synths, and pleading vocals in 1981, becoming international stars with sophomore album Songs from the Big Chair. That album spawned three Top 10 singles: "Shout," "Head Over Heels," and definitive '80s anthem "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." Along with acts like Simple Minds and INXS, Tears for Fears created the soundtrack of a generation.
