Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Tamia got her start singing in church and performing in local musical productions, before winning the YTV Vocal Achievement Award. She went on to work with R&B's biggest names—including Jermaine Dupri, Quincy Jones, and Tricky Stewart—for her self-titled debut, which spawned the hit single "So Into You." On her sophomore album A Nu Day, the Canadian singer paired with Missy Elliott for the more urban-sounding "Can't Go For That," but her biggest success was 2004's More, home to her hit reprise of "Into You" with Fabolous.
