Since the late '90s, Colombia's five-man Superlitio have devised ways to combine alternative rock with dance polyrhythms. That includes organic Latin drum patterns originating from samba, salsa, and Tropicália, plus more synthesized beats derived from house and drum ‘n' bass. They keep the mood light and lively, tempering the occasional hard rock guitars with scat singing, exuberant rap-like verses, Bee Gees-style disco falsetto, and even ukulele parts. So even when Pipe Bravo is growling in Spanish about our dog-eat-dog world, the music stays as warm and fun as it is funky.
