Sevendust: Next Steps

The supply of Sevendust's commanding alt-metal riffage is bottomless. They shred with gut-punching bottom end on “Picture Perfect” and stomp through classic metal-inspired hooks on “Splinter,” making room at the end for a heavily warped breakdown. Even “The Past,” a sombre post-grunge track with Chris Daughtry, burns with fiery guitar work bubbling under its choruses.
