Roedelius Essentials

German pianist and composer Hans-Joachim Roedelius has been making idiosyncratic music on the periphery of a number of genres for over four decades. In the '70s, Roedelius helped form the legendary Krautrock groups Cluster and Harmonia, who released a number of pioneering albums that explored the spaces between ambient and avant-garde rock. His work in the '80s blurred the line between synthpop and new age, and in the ‘90s and ‘00s he explored a more acoustic sound, releasing albums that sometimes veered toward jazz or chamber music but still retained their experimental and electronic edge.
