Pop Evil represents the next generation of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam-inspired post-grunge bands. Formed in Grand Rapids in 2001 and masterminded by singer Leigh Kakaty, Pop Evil went into the studio with Kid Rock's producer Al Sutton and released Lipstick on the Mirror in 2008. The album included a trio of radio hits and led to their opening Judas Priest's tour the next year. Their follow-up album, War of Angels, included a guitar cameo from Mick Mars of Motley Crue. Their 2011 single "In the Big House" became a fight song for their favorite football team, the Michigan Wolverines.
