Phoenix Essentials

Hailing from Versailles, France, Phoenix's roots date back to the mid-‘90s, when guitarist Laurent Brancowitz was in a band with future Daft Punk members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. Daft Punk's influence remained—Phoenix are named after a song on the EDM duo's debut album Homework. Phoenix's mixture of textured synthesizers and disco and new wave beats made them very pop-friendly from the beginning. The band didn't find mainstream success in the U.S., however, until the release of 2009's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
