Throughout a 50-plus-year career and across more than a dozen solo albums, Michael Nesmith has explored some surprising nooks and crannies of laidback Americana pop. He's ventured into experiments with cinematic sound effects ("Navajo Trail"), incantatory psychedelia ("You Are My One"), abstract spoken-word poetry ("Medley"), and breakbeat baroque neoclassical ("Bells"). All along, veteran steel guitarist Red Rhodes has been Nesmith's constant collaborator.
