Formed in the early '70s, Los Bukis were pioneers of grupera, the electrifying Mexican sound that blends rock and pop with traditional folk styles like norteño and ranchera. Known for their romantic ballads powered by fiery guitar and passionate vocals, Los Bukis released more than a dozen albums during their career, and many of their songs became massive hits throughout Latin America. Lead singer and chief songwriter Marco Antonio Solis left to launch an acclaimed solo career in 1995, but the band continued on as Los Mismos.
