Korn Essentials

Korn were one of the first bands to mash together hip-hop beats with industrial metal. Jonathan Davis' confessional lyrics tore open his emotional scars, and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu backed his raw sincerity with crushing riffs and funky beats. They struck a chord with fans, and by their third album, 1998's Follow the Leader, they were nu-metal trailblazers, with Limp Bizkit, Staind, and Slipknot following in their wake. Never content to sit still, Korn recruited Skrillex and Noisia for the dubstep assault of 2011's Path of Totality.
