Despite being the youngest in a triumvirate of Malay pop princes (with Hael Husaini and Naim Daniel), Haqiem Rusli is no less mature, as on their joint single “Lara”. At times, he’s even more urbane: “Adlina Marie” takes the conventions of the Malay ballad and turns them upside down, waxing lyrical on the heights of love on a socially conscious level. But Haqiem’s songs are still very much about youthful yearnings and body-moving rhythms. “Jatuh Bangun” is a Latin-flavoured anthem, “What Can I Do For You?” is emphatic dance floor fuel and “Meletop” brings hands-up tropical pop.
