Hands Like Houses Essentials

Since forming in Canberra in 2008, Hands Like Houses have evolved from the electro-indebted metallic post-hardcore of early material such as “Antarctica” to become a more streamlined and dynamic act that, on “Colourblind,” “Monster,” and “Introduced Species”, put the hook front and center. On 2014's reimagine EP, they demonstrated creative daring, reworking and retitling songs from 2013's Unimagine LP. The frantic riffing of “Shapeshifters” became the more nuanced “recollect,” complete with clean, atmospheric guitars and rhythmic handclaps. Meanwhile, their meaty cover of Ednaswap's pop hit “Torn” points to a band more concerned with quality songwriting than worrying about genre.
