If there's a mould for a classic Israeli singer, Gidi Gov created it. He was already a star singing for his army band in the '70s, joining the first breakthrough Israeli pop band, Kaveret, soon after. The success of Kaveret gave Gov the freedom to pick his next adventure: he sang, became a TV and film star, made commercials and even hosted food shows. His musical output has been minimal—he's made only one or two albums a decade. But in the latter recordings, he's proved to be a complex rock and even jazz singer—his deep, raspy voice charms much as it did many years ago.
