Formed in 2015 by Daniel Daley and Nineteen85, this Canadian R&B duo have a valuable ally in Drake, which is not surprising given that Nineteen85 produced such hits as “One Dance” and “Hotline Bling” for his fellow Torontonian and OVO Sound label boss. The producer’s project gives him a chance to explore styles beyond the hip-hop and dancehall grooves that distinguish his superstar collaborations as well as dvsn’s own team-ups with Future and Buju Banton. The Prince-like electro-soul on “Hallucinations” and “P.O.V.” provide an especially compelling setting for Daley’s yearning falsetto.
