Duff McKagan Essentials

Although Duff McKagan is best known as the wiry bassist of hard-rock legends Guns N’ Roses, the Seattle native frequently steps out on his own. For starters, that’s him taking lead vocals on GNR’s freewheeling 1991 original song “So Fine” and the band’s snarling 1993 cover of The Damned’s punk classic “New Rose.” McKagan has also collaborated with Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, and, starting in the late ’90s, formed and fronted the punk-leaning hard-rock group Loaded. On the solo tip, he has released music that illustrates his softer side, encompassing elegiac psychedelic jams, acoustic-driven meditations, and Rolling Stones-caliber roots rock.
