Dominique Jones’ brand of R&B-informed gospel mixes accessible devotional messaging with sophisticated production and a vocal power indicative of a lifetime spent steeped in church music. Raised in Yakima, WA, and later Shreveport, LA, Jones began singing in Forever JONES with her parents and four siblings in her mid-teens. She struck out on her own as DOE in the wake of the group’s major-label success, breaking through with a scene-stealing feature on Jonathan McReynolds’ cathartic acoustic ballad “Cycles” in 2018.
