Carnage Essentials

The L.A. producer Carnage makes no secret of his healthy appetite—it's right there in the title of his 2015 album Papi Gordo (“fat daddy” in Spanish). It extends to his musical tastes, too, which bring together electro-house and trap with a heaping helping of hardstyle. Born in D.C. and raised in Guatemala, he got his start making hip-hop beats for rappers like A$AP Rocky, but a 2012 remix for Hardwell launched his dance music career into the stratosphere. Fusing big-room builds and drops to half-time 808 workouts, Carnage's swaggering brand of "festival trap" cuts an unmistakable profile.
