Bruce Hornsby Essentials

Bruce Hornsby draws on quintessentially American musical influences like jazz, bluegrass, and ‘60s soul to create stirring and powerful music. After forming Bruce Hornsby & The Range in 1985, he catapulted into the mainstream with the band's biggest hit, “The Way It Is,” and its syncopated piano work. The ‘90s saw Hornsby shift from a rock-driven sound towards bluegrass and jazz as he collaborated with the Grateful Dead and Ricky Skaggs and stretched himself as a vocalist and soloist. Quartal harmonies, open intervals, and compositional simplicity all play into Hornby's signature style.
