This playlist tracks what’s happening from the heart of the country scene to its outer edges. Find fan favorites you already love next to breakout stars and emerging voices. Topping the list this week is Carter Faith with “Arrows (Die for That Man),” a standout track off the buzzed-about singer-songwriter’s newly released debut album Cherry Valley. The twangy tune finds Faith obsessing over a new love interest, with her Lee Ann Womack-meets-Kacey Musgraves voice shifting seamlessly between sweet and sassy. Faith tells Apple Music that she often feels inspired to write by a title, but tries not to get too hemmed in by any one idea. “I love a title,” she says. “And then I usually start with the melody. I remember one of my mentors at Belmont [University] was like, ‘Every time you write a song, you have to honor the song. You can’t try to fit it into this box.’” Check back here early and often for updates, and if you hear something you like, add it to your library.
