Moneybagg Yo has enjoyed watching some of the rappers from his hometown of Memphis rise through the ranks. “I like seeing people that go from where I come from get money,” he tells Apple Music. “It makes their whole life and situation just turn around.” The rapper and songwriter, who just released his fourth LP, A Gangsta’s Pain, recalls giving both Pooh Shiesty and BIG30 some words of encouragement early in their careers, and both are featured on this exclusive Apple Music playlist he curated with their joint track “Neighbors.” “I told them that their future was real bright,” he says. “They’re going to be some real stars with their whole style—it’s the new wave. I put the footprint and look where they are now.” Other artists who made the playlist include Morray, Babyface Ray, H.E.R., and Jhené Aiko, highlighted here with her track “Summer 2020.” “I just like her voice, her voice is like a peace of mind—it’s relaxing,” he says. “After you hear hip-hop all day, and you’ve been rapping and in the studio all day, it's a good vibe to go to.”
