Sun Records

About

Sam Phillips launched Sun Records in early 1952, named as a sign of his perpetual optimism: a new day and a new beginning. Sun was born from the blues with help from artists like Howlin’ Wolf, Rufus Thomas, and Little Milton, and later came to be the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll with legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
