Founded by Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman in 1988, Seattle-based Sub Pop Records is a legendary independent. With early releases by Nirvana, Mudhoney, and Soundgarden, the label is often associated with the grunge movement. Later years saw albums from The Shins, Iron & Wine, The Postal Service, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Washed Out, Shabazz Palaces, Weyes Blood, and Father John Misty. (From the label)
