About USERx

Fusing Matt Maeson's experience as a singer/songwriter with Rozwell's skills in production, beat-making, and the visual arts, this electronic pop duo incorporate sounds from the diverse spheres of alt-rock and hip-hop. The pair share lead vocals, while Maeson plays guitar and Rozwell stretches out on multiple instruments. Both musicians were raised in Virginia Beach and met each other while working on various creative projects in the area. Maeson was born to parents from a ministry that used Christian metal in their services, while the classically trained Rozwell soon became an in-demand producer on their homegrown scene. In 2017, Maeson was signed as a solo artist to the Neon Gold imprint of Atlantic Records, and issued his debut solo album, Bank on the Funeral, two years later. Throughout that journey, Rozwell was the creative mind behind all of the artwork that graced Maeson's releases, while simultaneously issuing his own music via The Undergod Company. The duo formed USERx out of their desire to create music for outsiders, for those listeners who didn't naturally feel part of the rock or the rap scenes. Despite Maeson moving to Austin and Rozwell being based in L.A., the first fruits of their collaboration arrived on Neon Gold in November 2020; the single "Above" featured both Masego and West Banks. "Headsick," a joint effort with Atlanta's Manchester Orchestra, appeared in February 2021. The group released their self-titled debut EP the following month. ~ James Wilkinson
