About The Lighthouse and The Whaler

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was really young my Dad would gather me and my brothers together and play Elvis songs on cassette. He’d sing and dance like Elvis and we’d all imitate him. I have three brothers so it was a crazy mess of sound and movement. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Elvis Presley, Elvis' Golden Records Iron & Wine, The Creek Drank the Cradle The National, High Violet Bonus Track Version Elvis was a very formative artist for me, especially this record. High Violet is my "gold standard" in songwriting, and I love this concept album experience. Iron & Wine helped me realize that people were still making vibey, singer-songwriter music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I Want to Feel Alive (Audiotree Live)” This song actually wasn’t even supposed to be on ‘Mont Royal’. We went into pre-production in Montreal and our producer Marcus Paquin heard it and said, "we have to flesh this out". So we did, and it evolved into the main single for the record. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We did a cover of a Peter Gabriel song for the 20th anniversary of his album ’So’ for a magazine. He listened to all the covers that were released, and ended up liking ours enough to actually meet up before his show at Hollywood Bowl. Pretty surreal. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Oh yeah plenty, playing internationally, there are some festivals we’d love to play and rooms we’d like to eventually headline. There’s a lot on that list for us.
