About The Good, the Bad & the Queen

The Good, the Bad & the Queen is a vehicle for Blur frontman Damon Albarn to return to writing about England, specifically London. The project bears the imprint of all four musicians involved: Albarn's ongoing obsession with music hall and pop songwriting, the loping basslines of former Clash member Paul Simonon, the rhythms of Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen, and the sensitive tonal colorings of former Verve guitarist Simon Tong. The Good, the Bad & the Queen issued their Danger Mouse-produced eponymous debut album in January 2007, following the release of two singles, "Herculean" and "Kingdom of Doom." The album was greeted with uniformly positive reviews, and the quartet toured in the spring of 2007, playing events in New York and the Coachella festival. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
