Making music that's well-crafted indie rock with a pop sensibility, plenty of strong guitars, and a mildly demented undercurrent, Shutups are clever and tuneful while reveling in the subversive bent in their music and lyrics. Playfully railing against technology, capitalism, and the abuses of contemporary culture, Shutups used guest musicians and studio technology to fill out their two-person lineup on their debut album, 2019's Every Day I'm Less Zen. More elaborate production and an expanded four-piece lineup gave them a fuller sound for 2022's I Can't Eat as Much as I Want to Vomit.
