In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest memories are of wanting to play the guitar. I was obsessed with the instrument and my dad taught me how to play when I was very young. I went on to study under a great guitar teacher and it shaped the trajectory of my entire life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds Pet sounds is THE greatest album ever. I have heard it thousands of times and it taught me so much about composition, instrumentation, production, and how to structure an album. It is the gold standard that all artists should strive for. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Feast of Flowers” I think this song, and "The Year of Our Lord," feel the most significant in my whole catalog. This song is about the history of my home state- the good and the bad. It's a complicated place, but it's where I and my whole family grew up. It's special. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When I was about 20 years old, Starbucks released my song "Light of the Moon" on a compilation CD that played in all of their stores. That was a high water mark in my career.
