About Rico Rodriguez
Rico Rodriguez, along with Don Drummond, was the most gifted trombonist working in the early years of Jamaican music. In the early 1950s he recorded his first session, for Coxsone Dodd, and went on to work on hundreds of sessions for Dodd and other top producers of the day, including Duke Reid and Prince Buster. Rodriguez relocated to London in 1961, working on sessions for artists such as Laurel Aitken, Georgie Fame, and on his own singles, including the popular "The Bullet." The arrival of 2-Tone in the early '80s saw Rodriguez on stage and on record with the Specials. Rodriguez has regularly returned to London, appearing with Gary Crosby’s Jazz Jamaica and Georgie Fame.
