In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I grew up in a family of eight where music was the only hobby allowed. No pop, just Bach, Russian Orthodox chants, and Taizé hymns filling the house. I often wished for a “normal” childhood with Top 40 hits, but now I see how those sounds shaped me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Eefje de Visser, Heimwee Froukje, Noodzakelijk Verdriet S10, Ik Besta Voor Altijd Zolang Jij Aan Mij Denkt These three women showed me how powerful Dutch music can be. I once wrote: “I don’t know anything for sure, except that my language is my home.” In their words and sound, I found the courage to start writing music myself. Tell us why you chose this song. “Mond Vol Moed” This is my first release, written after losing my mother. “Mond Vol Moed” is a tribute to her and the women who came before me. It’s for anyone who feels trapped, holding on to the hope of reclaiming their own personal freedom.
