Rasheed Chappell

Rapper Rasheed Chappell draws from his Passaic upbringing and represents New York with incisive and lyrical depictions of reality over dirty drums. Chappell's first commercial recordings were made with Kenny Dope, starting with "Dope Muziq" (2008) and two albums issued on the producer's Kay-Dee label, namely Future Before Nostalgia (2011) and First Brick (2018). Between the LPs, Chappell was active mostly with guest verses, but his productivity and scope greatly expanded in the 2020s. At the top of the decade, he teamed with veteran D.I.T.C. producer Buckwild for Sinners & Saints. Checks & Balances and Rx, made respectively with fellow MCs 38 Spesh and Xp the Marxman, followed in 2021. A Portrait Of saw Chappell team with Long Island's Little Vic in 2022. He met with Boston-area beatmaker the Arcitype for 2023's Sugar Bills, and in 2024, alongside Beatsbyjblack, cooked up the colorful and energized Nonstop: JFK > ATL.
