About Pat Metheny
Missouri native Pat Metheny is one of the most successful jazz guitarists and composers of all time, both as a solo artist and with the Pat Metheny Group. ∙ Metheny is the only artist ever to win Grammy Awards in 10 different categories—and he’s won 20 Grammys overall across four decades. ∙ He collaborated on albums with jazz greats Ornette Coleman and Charlie Haden, bass icon Jaco Pastorius, songwriting legend Joni Mitchell, and pianist Brad Mehldau. ∙ Multiple Metheny albums have reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums chart, including his 2003 Grammy-winning solo acoustic guitar effort, One Quiet Night. ∙ He was inducted into the DownBeat Hall of Fame in 2013 and won Guitarist of the Year 13 years in a row in the magazine’s annual Readers’ Poll. ∙ In 2018, he was named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, one of the most prestigious honors given to jazz musicians.
