About Nkosi Zondo
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember at the age of 5, I would gate crush most parties & weddings just to be seen dancing and cheered for. Free entrainment. I was focused, not afraid of what people would say or do, I just wanted to sing and dance. It made perfect sense to me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Hugh Masekela, Grazing In the Grass - The Best of Hugh Masekela Samthing Soweto, Isphithiphithi Selaelo Selota, Painted Faces I have enjoyed working with Samthing Soweto, it has given me an opportunity to experience what a great album can do for any artist. Painted Faces is one of the first CDs I bought myself. Hugh Masekela is just an inspirational performer & storyteller. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Ntate Moholo” Growing up, there was this old man, better yet, grandpa that would stop us from going about our way in the streets of Senaoane, only to sing & dance for us. The tune went something like this title 'Ntate Moholo'. It's a cheer everyone up song really. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? 30th April 2023 me & my band played the wedding of Minenhle Masondo who was a learner when I taught at Sacred Heart College between 2009 & 2013. His mother also a teacher at the school told me my son asked that I get you to perform at their wedding. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I still need to play the Soweto, Lyric & Joburg Theatres as Nkosi Zondo. I actually haven't performed the Cape Town, North Sea Jazz Festivals & many other stages around the world. A 2024 tour around South Africa is next in line, super exciting times.
