Like contemporaries Vince Staples, Avenue, and Denzel Curry, Grant packs his verses with socially conscious wordplay inspired by real-life experiences, and buoys his voice with productions favoring sample-based boom bap over trap stylings. He established himself with the mixtape '88 (2016) and follow-up Return of the Cool (2017) before delivering his major-label debut for Epic, Dreamin' Out Loud (2018).
