Nessly

Known as Nessly, Maclean Porter is a contemporary rap artist whose debauched rhymes are alternately rapped and sung with relaxed melodicism. The Atlanta, Georgia native started rapping before he was a teenager and recorded tracks for several years prior to seeing a major increase in his Soundcloud streaming numbers. With a steady recording schedule and determination -- he took bus trips to New York and Toronto and performed at parties and other underground events -- he built up an underground following, and gained major exposure when Pharrell's OTHERtone and Drake's OVO Sound radio programs played his tracks. Along with a handful of singles and numerous featured appearances, Porter independently issued the nine-track sets Still Finessin' and Solo Boy Band in 2016. Those releases preceded a deal with major-label Republic, who issued Porter's lengthier Wildflower in early 2018. The following year saw the release of Standing On Satan's Chest, which featured guest spots from Lil Keed, 6 Dogs, Killy, and Yung Bans. ~ Andy Kellman
