About Moth
Although they appeared to have fallen off the face of the earth during the late 90s, modern day alt rock/power pop band Weezer continued to inspire countless other acts in their absence, including groups such as Ozma and Moth. Formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA in the late 80s, Moth are led by long-time friends Brad Stenz and Bob Gayol, who both double on vocals and guitar. The duo initially looked to such bands as Dinosaur Jr, Fugazi, Jesus Lizard, and Pavement as an initial guiding light. After recording three obscure albums (with a rotating cast making up their rhythm section), Moth signed a major label recording contract with Virgin Records. They entered the studio with Sean Beavan (whose resume includes work with Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails, among others), and an all star rhythm section filling in, comprising ex-Replacements Tommy Stinson and A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese. Provisions, Fiction And Gear was released in April 2002. Its supporting tour saw the addition of bass player Theodore Liscinski and drummer Atom Willard, an ex-member of both Rocket From The Crypt and the side project of Weezer drummer Pat Wilson, the Special Goodness.
