About Markus Poschner
Markus Poschner has been chief conductor of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and the Bruckner Orchester Linz, and he has recorded with both groups. Also active as a jazz pianist, Poschner is a significant educator. In 2003, Poschner participated in Roger Norrington's pathbreaking recording of Beethoven's nine symphonies. Since 2010, Poschner has been on the faculty at the University of Bremen. With the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, he mounted a cycle of Brahms symphonies entitled "Rereading Brahms." With the Bruckner Orchester Linz, Poschner began a cycle of Bruckner symphonies for the Capriccio label; his recording of the Bruckner Symphony No. 8 in C minor with the Linz orchestra appeared in 2023. Poschner has also continued to conduct opera, leading a recording of Offenbach's operetta Maître Péronilla with the Orchestre National de France in 2020.
