About Locrian

Locrian is an experimental project founded in 2005 by Chicago, Illinois-based academics André Foisy and Terence Hannum, who began collaborating in extremely piecemeal fashion -- their early discography grew to contain over a dozen official and unofficial bite-sized works, issued in limited numbers and multiple formats. Along the way, Locrian's rather scattered creative methods coalesced into more manageable album-sized portions, namely, 2009's Drenched Lands, 2010's Territories, and 2011's The Crystal World. The band added a permanent third member in drummer/electronicist Stephen Hess, which helped give them a fresh sound that skillfully weaves black and doom metal with noise rock, industrial music, drone, etc. In 2012 they issued Bless Them That Hurt You on Mammifer in 2012. They released a pair of albums on Relapse -- 2013's Return to Annihilation and 2015's trio effort Infinite Dissolution. They returned to the Profound Lore label for 2022's New Catastrophism and followed with 2024's End Terrain. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
