Contemporary R&B singer and rapper Just Chase is a native Nova Scotian who counts fellow Canadian Drake among his primary inspirations. Like Drake and many of his OVO Sound associates, Chase favors understated melodicism over relaxed, atmospheric productions. He made his debut in 2017, a few years following a westward move to Toronto, on his SOS ("save our soul") label. The singles "Ego" and "Between Us" led to the succinct mixtape Killing Roses later that year, an eight-track release of all-new material issued that November, on his late mother's birthday.
