About Judge & Jury
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. NS: I was five, maybe younger, messing around on this old upright piano in our kitchen in Canada. I didn’t know a single chord — I just remember trying to play what sounded good. That instinct—chasing emotion through sound—stuck with me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Tarkus Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV Deluxe Edition The Doors, The Doors HB: The Doors because of the pop songwriting meeting dark Oedipal lyrics, Emerson Lake and Palmer’s Tarkus because of Keith Emerson’s mastery of the Hammond C3, and Led Zeppelin IV because it's Led Zeppelin. But I have a lot of favorite records. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Euphoria” NS: Trevor McNevan and I are great friends — we used to work at McDonalds together before our music took off. We finally collaborated on Euphoria with Howard Benson, and the song came out even better than I expected. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? HB: Discovering the DAW Protools in 1997 while producing Sepultura in São Paulo changed my career. I was a very early adopter and it gave me a huge advantage. People were slow to use it… I started having hits and it became the standard. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We’ve done more than we ever imagined—toured the world, broken records—but the bucket list now is about shaping the future: producing new talent through Judge & Jury Records, and creating fresh music that cuts through the noise.
