About Jimi Tenor

Finland's Jimi Tenor is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, bandleader, and producer. Since releasing 1994's Sähkömies, the baritone and tenor saxophonist and flutist embraced jazz and African traditions. With 1997's Intervision, he experimented with jazz-funk. 2004's Beyond the Stars with Five Corners Quintet, melded post-bop, soul, and house music. He commenced a collaborative relationship with Kabu Kabu on 2007's jazz-funk outing Joystone. Two years later, he and Afrobeat drum legend Tony Allen cut Inspiration Information. In 2013, Tenor and avant-jazz big band UMO released Mysterium Magnum. In 2015, he issued the proggy Electric Willow with Tenors of Kalma. Tenor recorded and released the completely solo Multiversum in 2022. Two years later, he reissued Sähkömies on Bureau B in celebration of its 30th anniversary. In 2025 he and Cold Diamond & Mink released July Blue Skies and, with Freestyle Man, he issued Sinus Amoris. In November, Tenor returned with neo-electro funk date Selenites, Selenites!
