Featuring the lovely, crystalline vocals of lead singer Sally Ellyson, Dan Messe's haunting songs, and a fondness for traditional acoustic music, New York City's Hem fuse dreamy post-psychedelia and subtle country influences in the manner of bands like Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star. Hem debuted with 2001's self-released RABBIT SONGS. The Dreamworks label signed the group and reissued RABBIT SONGS in 2003, followed by 2004's EVENINGLAND. The year 2006 brought third album FUNNEL CLOUD, as well as a collection of demos, live tracks, and outtakes called NO WORD FROM TOM.
