About Guy Mitchell

An enormously popular singer, Guy Mitchell’s straightforward style, rich voice, and affable personality made him one of the most popular artists of the 1950s, particularly in the U.K. Mitchell signed to Columbia Records in 1950, and hit the U.S. charts with "My Heart Cries For You." It was followed by a string of hits, including "She Wears Red Feathers" and "Christopher Columbus." The crooner's biggest hit, "Singing The Blues," topped the U.S. charts for 10 weeks and subsequently hit number one in the U.K. He scored again in 1959 with "Heartaches By The Number," which sold over a million copies, but it would prove to be his last major success. Although sidelined by Beatlemania, Mitchell maintained a loyal following until his death in 1999.
