Finding Ways

Finding Ways is drummer Sebastian Rochford's rockist, vanguard jazz outfit. He and bassist Anders Christensen are constants as are guitarists Tara Cunningham and David Preston. This project was initiated to find a way through the profound changes Rochford experienced following the death of his poet father Gerard. Its raw, effectless (no effects pedals of any kind) sound is built on "layered guitars and raw emotion," melding alt and indie rock with modern jazz. The music and arrangement were inspired by the methods he discovered and practiced each day to remain positive after his profound loss. The band's eponymous debut album was released by Edition Records in November 2025. In addition to the quartet, Rochford enlisted an army of guest guitarists including Adrian Utley, Simon Tong, John Parish, Leo Abrahams, Matt Hurley, and Seye Adelekan. Bassist Ruth Goller guested on one track.
