About Devin the Dude

While he’s never been a household name, weed-loving Houston rap legend Devin the Dude has built a dedicated following and recorded with hip-hop heavyweights like Snoop Dogg and Scarface. • Devin discovered hip-hop and breakdancing as a youngster in Florida. He picked up rapping in Houston, where he moved in the third grade. • He signed to Rap-A-Lot Records as part of the trio Odd Squad, which released its debut album, Fadanuf Fa Erybody!!, in 1994. Devin was also a member of Houston icon Scarface’s Facemob crew in 1995. • The rapper’s star-studded 2002 sophomore album, Just Tryin ta Live, features Nas, Xzibit, and Raphael Saadiq, with production help from Dr. Dre and DJ Premier. • Devin’s stoner persona led to him being cast in the 2013 comedy Highway 420.
