About Derek Webb

Indie singer/songwriter Derek Webb has amassed a lengthy and successful career both as the frontman for Texas CCM heroes Caedmon's Call and later as a solo artist. With an agitator's flair for challenging religious and political norms, he has consistently used his music to draw attention to important issues, a move that has often left him at odds with the church. During the latter half of the 2000s, Webb's albums veered away from traditional CCM, growing more experimental in tone and exploring themes of personal growth, social justice, faith, and doubt. He also continued his pioneering work in the music industry leading NoiseTrade, a direct-to-fan distributor he founded in 2003. In the 2010s, Webb expanded his stylistic range with releases like the 2012 concept album Ctrl and 2017's deeply introspective Fingers Crossed. After 2020's raucous Targets, he returned to faith-based music with The Jesus Hypothesis in 2023, followed by 2025's Fruit on the Tree EP.
