About DENM

Santa Barbara, California-based bedroom electronic artist DENM makes laid-back pop songs infused with pop, dance, and reggae influences. He first gained attention with his 2016 hit "Lit" and his Dreamhouse EP. DENM played in various indie rock outfits before launching himself onto the world stage with the release of "Lit" in late 2016. The catchy track combined bouncy Italo house rhythms with fat EDM bass, woozy chillwave synths, and smoked-out, high-pitched vocals. With his green hair, guyliner, and grungy aesthetic, the multi-instrumentalist looked like a child of the '90s. He did not make his real name public, and little was known about him except that he had a lot of experience as a session musician, songwriter, and producer, and had worked and toured with many pop and rock artists. His first EP, Dreamhouse, followed in short order with more of the same, and he soon began to attract press attention; the track "Green" was used in an Uber commercial. A remix EP followed early in 2017, and collaborations with Gnash on "Belong" and Tommy Trash on "Dreamer" appeared before the single "Bless Your Heart" was released in September. In 2019, he joined production duo Rock Mafia for the EP Endless Summer. ~ John D. Buchanan
