David Boyd Janes

Toronto-born country singer/songwriter David Boyd Janes released his first EP, Thoughts Become Things, in 2018, but his subsequent connection with hit producer and songwriter Jeff Dalziel resulted in his real breakthrough moment. With Dalziel behind the board, Janes took his music to the next level both artistically and commercially with his next record, 2021’s Drove Me Country. Like any great producer should, Dalziel accentuated Janes’ greatest strengths, like the deep, rich punch of his voice, and his knack for putting across upbeat, hook-heavy tunes that mix plenty of twang with a touch of rock ’n’ roll. It wasn’t long before the country-music award nominations started mounting, and singles like the good-time drinking tune “Couldn’t Hurt” started earning Janes more attention—not only in his homeland but in the U.S. as well.
