Danny & The Darleans

House-rocking garage trio Danny & the Darleans materialized in early 2010, one of a long line of bands started by Danny Kroha, founding member of Detroit garage punk legends the Gories. Following the demise of the Gories, Kroha spent a lot of time performing solo, playing in a stripped-down folk-blues style. Drummer Richie Wohlfeil approached Kroha, casually suggesting a jam session or the possibility that he and bassist Colleen Burke might back Danny up at one of his solo gigs. A few low-key blues gigs gave way to the trio eventually solidifying as a legitimate entity unto themselves. They eventually released their tunes in the form of a two-song 7" in 2012, and a self-titled LP in late 2013. ~ Fred Thomas
